Maersk Line amends ‘FEW1′ rotation
Maersk Line is to implement changes to the rotation of its Asia-West Africa service FEW1 (#417), effective in about a months’ time.
The 2,506 teu charter vessel NEWYORKER is to inaugurate weekly eastbound calls in Bissau (Guinea-Bissau) and Cochin (India) on her next voyage from West Africa to South East Asia, respectively on 28 May and 6 July. The revised rotation stands as follows:
Tanjung Pelepas, Lome, Onne, Douala, Bissau, Walvis Bay, Cochin, Port Kelang, Tanjung Pelepas.
Maersk Line has allocated a generous berthing window to the loops new Bissau call and will allow the ships periods of up to five days in port, or waiting at to berth. Together with the new Cochin call, the changes are to stretch the service’s rotation from the present ten weeks to 12 or even 13 weeks. Details have yet to be determined as the new rotation stabilizes.
Bissau is so far served by Portline (#2433) and by Maersk (#412). Both these loops connect the port to Portugal. The ‘FEW1′ will thus be the first direct connection between Guinea-Bissau and the Far East.
